Spec of wine cabinets to Hierarchy, Gary.
V
Wine cabinet recesses
*
Would be a good idea to have metal trays for the wine fridges, or some protection in the unlikely event the fridges leak water (this has happened to us one. Not what you’d call a flood, but we don’t want to risk potential water damage).

Double cupboard at end

width = 1020
V
Right-hand side : JBL M2 (510mm w)

Dimensions (w x h x d) 508mm x 1256mm x 355.6mm (however I measure 500mm wide!)Pasted_Graphic_13

Left-hand side: Stereo rack (510mm w)
*
Bottom cupboards
V
Spaced shelves above (~510mm w)
V
Parasound A23+ amplifiers x 4
*
Remember, we’re not using McIntosh amps as they are too deep for this area.
*
Dimensions
Width: 17-1/4" (437 mm)
Depth: 15"-1/4" (388 mm)
Depth, with cables 17" (432 mm)
Height, with feet: 4-1/8" (105 mm)
Height, without feet: 3-1/2" (89 mm), 2U
*
Moral of the story: 450 deep cabinets required (McIntosh gear is 500mm deep without cables, so forget that)
*
Dimensions (w x h x d) 437mm Width 388mm Depth (432 with cables fitted) 105mm Height
*
but let’s allow 200mm distance between shelves for adequate ventilation (including shelf height, so not an internal measurement).
V
McIntosh D100 DAC / Digital Preamplifier .
*
Can re-use this rather than buying one with analog, as the miniDSP UHD will take analog sources and feed it.
*
But, if we use the BLU800 with digital inputs, the D100 has no digital out … unlike the SHD (ensuring variable digital output is enabled!). So, best to have the SHD as the preamp, along with the BLU-800, due to ventilation requirements.
V
Ideas:
*
Ventilated shelving ... long vents running from front to back
*
Holes in back rear corners for cables (L power, R signal)
*
Power to area
*
Lan cables to area
*
Shelves currently not in plan for any of the storage joinery. Architect or Gary?
*
Existing Digital-only SHD studio would do for the gym.
*
Full SHD to accept analog inputs (e.g. DJ controller), and play Roon.
*

Dancefloor Lighting

Able to change from an elegant speakeasy to a dance club with a dramatic change in lighting
*
We have a dance pole.
V
Power
V
Smart outlets to turn power on/off to lighting rail, e.g. PDL Iconic Wiser Connected Socket in Iconic Anthracite colour (a dark grey, to minimise visual impact)
V
Lutron LQSE-4S5-230-D
*
4 x 5A zones… rail 1, rail 2, smoke alarm (if permitted), ???
*
Don’t want power bank visible, that was a temporary thing!
*
1 dual smart socket per ceiling rail.Don’t need individual switches, individual lights will be controlled with the WolfMix DMX controller.
*
Run dmx Cable to lighting, behind gib, to outlet here:

Dancefloor lighting
*
Mounted on ceiling rails.
*
Please ignore the LED lighting radiating from the rails in the photos, they didn’t work out well in practice.
V
Similar to attached photos from last house… a similar concept, but tidier cabling, power outlet in ceiling.
*
ceiling rail 1ceiling rail 2ceiling rails both
V
DMX controlled fog machine. Please ignore for now.
*
DMX cable from DJ stand to Fog machine. Another DMX cable from Fog machine to Ceiling lighting truss rails.
V

*
Wired ethernet data points throughout to allow for future flexibililty.

SHD: S/PDIF out.

End Cupboards / Storage
*
45mm depth?? JBL M2 depth = 355mm, so at least that! 300mm def not enough.
*
Bi-wiring for speakers
V
Hide all electronics in here? Having McIntosh rack looks great but takes up valuable floorspace
*
Sonos unit
*
BSS.
*
Amplifiers etc too large to put here, no point in making the entire thing 60cm just for these.
*
Perhaps just McIntosh Preamp visible. This provides 12V DC trigger to the hidden stuff.
*
Large conduit pipe from end cupboard to nearby wall for cables to go back and forth without being draped across floor.
*
Parasounds just 34cm deep.
V
Need preamp with analog in. We have it with the SHD… could use the Mc preamp as a glorified attentuator.
*
Sonos -> SHD -> McPreamp -> BSS Blu50 -> Parasounds -> M2’s.
*
Roon -> SHD -> McPreamp -> BSS Blu50 -> Parasounds -> M2’s.
*
SHD not strictly necessary initially. Just SONOS -> McPreamp -> BSS Blu50 -> Parasounds -> M2’s.
V
SHD unit adds Roon. NEED NETWORK CABLE HERE JUST IN CASE, ALSO FOR SONOS.
*
Pasted_Graphic_7
*
Then, a cable for future use, for a DJ unit in the corner.
*
An extra component in the chain, but remember, this is not a serious listening system.
*
Definitely need good ventilation. Put in main cabinet (not small corner one) for greater airspace?
*
An open front not the end of the world for heat-generating electronics.
*

*
Infra-red bug to feed components in covered bottom area.
V
Karaoke (maybe)
*
Karafun
*
Shure mic / GLXD4
*
Use old 828x rack mount mixer
V
Feed stereo via TV using BlueTooth and logitech BT receiver.
*
Mac->AppleTV->TV->BT->828x.
*
Microphone->GLXD4 (or GLXD24+)->Microphone Mixer->PerformV->Feedback Destroyer->828x (to mix Microphones with received Bluetooth signal). Would need second PerformV for a 2 mic setup. Might be better with a cheap mic mixer, https://www.thomann.de/intl/img_stageline_mmx_31.htm $40.
*
Guildford of Maine FR701 … remote control will go through this.
*
To provision, we will want lots of shelves in the bottom section, up to waist or chest height.
*
Pasted_Graphic_2
*
Be careful, we want the PRO version, not this one ...Pasted_Graphic_5
*

*
Now whereas the SM58 has a traditional Cardioid polar pickup pattern, both of the Shure Beta mics are super cardioids, which means they offer a narrower pickup pattern with excellent sound rejection from the sides. This is why they’re better at isolating vocals and less susceptible to feedback on a busy stage. Which is therefore why singers prefer them – there’s hardly any bleed from other instruments.

Smoke Alarm
V
Yes, a strange request … We want to be able to temporarily disable smoke alarm when having a party, ideally without getting up on a ladder, and ideally turning on again after an 8h timer.
*
“If you're building or renovating and have been issued a building consent, the New Zealand Building Code requires an approved smoke alarm to be fitted in every escape route (hallway) and within three metres of every sleeping space (bedroom) door.”
*
Fog from fog machine will set off smoke alarm
*
Could connect to another https://www.clipsal.com/products/detail?CatNo=3025CSG&itemno=3025CSG&tab-document-1=0 … compliant? Are there rules re: smoke alarms?
V

AMENDMENTS
V
Increase internal height difference between counter and bartop from 100 to 200, so there’s a good 200mm+ internal difference
V
Run power outlets at rear bar counter. double power points at left, centre, right end.
*
Please make sure these are high enough to plug in wall power supplies if need be (e.g. bottom of mains plug plate 50mm above bench)

QUESTIONS
V
Remote smart switch
V
Looks like there is a 4-way switch, here: LQSE-4S5-230-D
*
5A load. Even the brightest of dancefloor lights - https://www.adj.com/vizi-roller-beam-2r - is just 210w (<1A).
*
DMX controller location. Wireless for maximum flexibility? Will help with DMX, but not audio.
*
Food for thought… do we really need to see the stereo stuff?
*
Looks great, but takes up unnecessary room. Maybe just a volume adjustor (McIntosh), and the rest hidden away, including existing Parasound amps.
V
Future Ideas (just here for reference, no need to consider)
V
Strengthening/reinforcing for dance pole
*
Have a removable dance pole. Will need to ensure reinforced ceiling, so it doesn’t break through the ceiling when screwed into place.
*
Please ignore for now. We’ll use the bar and where the best place for this is in practice.
